SwedishAmerican, a division of UW Health is pleased to welcome Advanced Practice Nurse Monica Longnecker who joins Dr. Bruce Stiles at SwedishAmerican Valley Clinic, 6824 Newburg Road, Rockford. Longnecker will partner with Stiles to expand his practice and provide extended patient care and enhanced chronic disease management to its patients. Longnecker received both a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and a Master of Science degree in nursing from Saint Anthony College of Nursing. She comes to SwedishAmerican will more than 16 years of nursing experience.
SwedishAmerican, a division of UW Health is pleased to announce that Woodside Clinic Family Physician and Integrative Medicine Specialist Srivani Sridhar, MD, successfully completed all of the requirements for board certification in integrative medicine through the American Board of Integrative Medicine (ABOIM). This certification indicates mastery of the specialty and professional commitment to adhere to the American Board of Physician Specialties (ABPS) Medical Code of Ethics. Integrative medicine is defined by the ABOIM as the practice of medicine that reaffirms the importance of the relationship between practitioner and patient, focuses on the whole person, is informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches, healthcare professionals and disciplines to achieve optimal health and healing.

Garrett Vygantas, M.D., MBA, joins OSF Ventures, a part of OSF Innovation, as a Managing Director. He will partner with innovative health care companies seeking to make an impact in the provider-patient ecosystem. With more than two decades of health care experience as a physician, investor and entrepreneur, Vygantas brings a broad spectrum of knowledge to OSF Ventures. He has worked in biopharmaceuticals, medical technology and diagnostics. He was the founding CEO of NewBridge Pharmaceuticals and was also an Entrepreneur-In-Residence and Investment Director at a leading life science venture capital firm. Most recently, Vygantas led health care investments at Jump Capital.

Christopher T. Druce-Jones recently joined the Rosecrance staff as Chaplain at the Harrison Campus. He is a former United Methodist clergy of 20 years, having pastored several churches within the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church on the Rockford and Elgin Districts. Druce-Jones earned a BA in Philosophy and Religion from Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana and a Master of Divinity from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. Druce-Jones’ leadership specialization is within the areas of organizational management and administration, leadership development, congregational care, small group facilitation, and church revitalization. While serving within the Northern Illinois Conference, Druce-Jones provided leadership on various committees to include: Conference Board or Ordained Ministry, Conference Credentials Committee, Conference Committee on Religion and Race, Conference Episcopal Committee and Chair of Rockford District Committee on Ordained Ministry. Additionally, his community involvement includes the following: Former instructor of Foster PRIDE/Adopt parenting training, instructor for Rock Valley College Learning in Retirement, Executive Board member of Rockford Urban Ministry, former Board of Directors member of Total Health Awareness Team and Licensed Foster Parent with Children Home and Aide Society of Illinois.

Gayatri Sonti, DO, PhD, Neurosurgeon at SwedishAmerican, a division of UW Health has been named a 2017 Top Doctor in Rockford. Top Doctor Awards is dedicated to selecting and honoring those healthcare practitioners who have demonstrated clinical excellence while delivering the highest standards of patient care. Sonti has been in practice for more than 14 years, and in that time has become renowned as one of the top neurosurgeons in Illinois. Her acclaimed medical career began in 2003 when she gained her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from the Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. An internship followed at the Providence Medical Center, before a residency and then fellowship were completed at the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, California. Sonti also holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree from the University of Delaware.

SwedishAmerican is pleased to welcome our new obstetrician & gynecologist, Meredith Brawley, MD. Dr. Brawley is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She has a special interest in obstetrics and provides comprehensive care to women of all ages. Brawley received her medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri. She completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Providence Hospital and Medical Centers in Southfield, Michigan and comes to SwedishAmerican with over three years of experience.
First National Bank and Trust Company (FNBT) is pleased to announce that Jarod Schut has joined the company as a Trust Officer serving the bank’s Walworth County market. With two years of investment experience and an additional five years of experience in banking, Schut will be responsible for overseeing and organizing administration of estates and trusts for clients of FNBT. He will conduct periodic reviews and act as account administrator with the goal of assisting individuals understand their investments, helping clients develop financial plans, and providing Sound Advice to help people reach their investment goals. A 2015 graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater, Schut received a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a double major in finance and economics. He holds several industry certifications including Series 7, 63, and 65 licenses. In his free time, Schut plays guitar, piano and trumpet. He is a certified scuba diver and enjoys traveling. He currently resides in Clinton, Wisconsin where he is active in the Kiwanis Club.
Schut will be based at FNBT’s Walworth office located at 105 State Road 67 in Walworth, Wisconsin.

SwedishAmerican, a division of UW Health, is pleased to welcome two new advanced practice nurses (APNs) to its team, Anne Cunningham and Lorri Mostad. Cunningham is an APN who will partner with Dr. Andrea Giamalva and Dr. Stephanie Gorham at SwedishAmerican Belvidere Clinic. Together, they will expand their practice and provide extended patient care and enhanced chronic disease management to their patients. Cunningham received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Aurora University and a Master of Science degree in nursing from Walden University. Cunningham is certified as a family nurse practitioner and has over 17 years of nursing experience at SwedishAmerican Hospital. Mostad is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who has joined Dr. Reginald Givens and Dr. Evan Silvi at SwedishAmerican Center for Mental Health. Mostad will partner with Givens and Silvi to enhance multi-disciplinary care, and to ensure that this care is the most comprehensive care that is given to the Behavioral health patients. Mostad received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota and a Master of Science degree in nursing from University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She comes to SwedishAmerican with over three years of psychiatric nurse practitioner experience.

SwedishAmerican, a division of UW Health is pleased to welcome three new physicians to its team, Dr. John H. Braxton, Dr. John Kaminski and Dr. Murtaza Rizvi.
Dr. John Braxton is SwedishAmerican’s new cardiothoracic surgeon. He is board certified in thoracic surgery and has over 20 years of experience. He joins Dr. Srinivas Kolla in the SwedishAmerican Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinic, located within the SwedishAmerican Heart Institute, and will practice exclusively at SwedishAmerican. Braxton received his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. and completed residency training in general surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He completed his cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut.
Dr. John Kaminski is SwedishAmerican’s new electrophysiologist. Kaminski has a special interest in minimally invasive catheter based cardiac arrhythmia ablation, atrial fibrillation management, cardiac resynchronization therapy, along with pacemaker and defibrillator implantation. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases, board eligible in clinical cardiac electrophysiology. Kaminski received his medical degree from University of Wisconsin School of Medicine & Public Health in Madison and completed his cardiology residency and electrophysiology fellowship training at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois.
Dr. Murtaza Rizvi is SwedishAmerican’s new internal medicine physician. Rizvi has a special interest in internal medicine hypertension and diabetes management. He is board eligible in internal medicine and is a member of the Royal Society of Surgeons Glasgow. Rizvi received his medical degree from Karachi Medical & Dental College in Karachi, Pakistan and completed internal medicine residency training at Northside Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio.

SwedishAmerican OB/GYN Dr. William Cunningham has been awarded the Faculty and Staff Aureus Award for the month of September from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford Medical Student Council. The award was based on nominations by individual medical students. One nomination read, “Dr. Cunningham deserves this recognition for his excellent teaching and receptiveness to his students. He goes out of his way to explain topics to his students and his bedside manner is something we can all strive to embrace. UIC is lucky to have him as a teaching partner.”

Traceine Wilson, Senior Marketing Representative, recently celebrated her fifth anniversary at Rockford Mutual Insurance Company. Wilson handles the Northeastern area of Illinois. She brought over 10 years of property and casualty insurance experience to Rockford Mutual.
“Traceine came to us with previous marketing experience and has helped Rockford Mutual grow in Illinois,” said Shane Heeren, Vice President-Marketing and Sales.

Deb James, Commercial Underwriter, recently celebrated her fifth anniversary at Rockford Mutual Insurance Company. James has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry and currently holds a property and casualty license for the State of Illinois, as well as a CISR designation. James is responsible for underwriting commercial products for over 100 independent agents in her territory.
“We congratulate Deb on her five year anniversary with Rockford Mutual,” said Mike Wall, Director of Underwriting. “She is a valuable member of our Commercial Underwriting team and we look forward many more contributions from her in the future.”

Kathy Quast, Generalist, recently celebrated her 35th anniversary at Rockford Mutual Insurance Company. Quast’s enthusiasm within the various departments that she assists is a valued asset.
“With her experience, she contributes to the company’s relentless pursuit of excellence, prudence, teamwork, integrity and service,” said Kathy LaCapra, Director of Human Resources.
Quast earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.

Rockford Mutual Insurance Company recently hired Gino Nizzi as Technical Engineer. Nizzi came to Rockford Mutual with 17 years of information technology administration, design, implementation and support experience. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Columbia College, Columbia, Missouri. Nizzi is responsible for servicing network equipment and server maintenance. “Gino’s vast expertise in the IT industry make him a valuable asset to our IT team,” said Dan Yesbeck, Director of IT.

Sharece Craft recently joined Rockford Mutual Insurance Company as Customer Care Specialist in the Financial Services Department. Craft came to Rockford Mutual with over five years of customer service experience. She is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our agents and
policyholders.
“We are excited about the addition of Sharece to our department!” said Tiffany Herron, Assistant Vice President-Financial Services.

Mike Wise has been promoted to Senior Claim Representative at Rockford Mutual Insurance Company. Wise began his employment at Rockford Mutual over two years ago as a Claim Representative and brought more than eight years of property and casualty claims experience at MetLife Auto and Home. Wise is responsible for investigating and concluding property and liability claims. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Columbia College at Highland, Freeport, Illinois.
“Mike is always willing to take on new responsibilities, learn new lines of business and help others,” said Ann Kriens, Claims Manager.

Shandra Thomas has been appointed Senior Premier Banker, Vice President for BMO Harris Bank. In her new role, Thomas will be responsible for the Janesville main and Delavan branches. Her duties include working with clients to maximize their long and short term financial goals, while also providing assistance with refinances, establishing home equity lines of credits, loans, and new bank accounts. Thomas has been with BMO Harris Bank since 2010 and has held various roles, which have earned her top recognitions that spotlight her achievements. Prior to her current role, Thomas was a Senior Personal Banker in Janesville. Thomas grew up in Janesville, where she married her husband Jared. They live with their daughter, Savannah, along with their two cats and dog. Thomas also remains an active member of Janesville Noon Lions.

Fairbanks Morse, an EnPro Industries company and leading power solutions provider, announced recently that Kimberly Getgen has joined the company to spearhead global go-to market strategy and initiatives. As vice president of strategic marketing, Getgen is responsible for defining and executing the company’s corporate marketing strategy across each of Fairbanks Morse’s key vertical marketing segments including marine power and power generation. Getgen owns go-to-market strategy, marketing communications, and product management and reports directly to Marvin Riley, president of Fairbanks Morse and chief operating officer at EnPro.

Paul Gilmet recently joined the Rosecrance team as its Alumni Coordinator. Gilmet will work closely with Fr. Jim Swarthout in developing a new and robust menu of alumni services. Gilmet graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He joins the team with a strong background in developing alumni programs within the treatment services setting. He indicates there are so many ways that Rosecrance can serve clients once they leave treatment, whether through retreats, monthly gatherings, alumni chapters, networking events, recovery enhancement (including wellness, fitness, and meditation), social media engagement, or other social gatherings.

The CRC professional designation for credit and lending professionals demonstrates a commitment to the industry and a level of industry knowledge that has been recognized by an objective, outside organization. Historically, only 65 percent of banking professionals who take the exam pass.

Sam Schmitz has announced his retirement as President of Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois and Wisconsin Stateline Area, Inc. after serving as President since Jan. 7, 2008. Schmitz will stay on as President until a replacement is found which is anticipated to be the spring of 2018.
“Sam has been an extraordinary leader for our organization over the past 10 years. While we’ll miss him as he transitions to retirement, we’re grateful for the team he’s built to carry on Goodwill’s mission in our community,” said Brian Reck, Goodwill’s Board Chairman.

Chris Kelley was recently appointed as Interim Board President of River District Association (RDA) in Rockford. Kelley previously served as Vice President of the River District Association and currently serves on the boards of Youth Services Network and American Advertising Federation-Northern Illinois. The River District Association is a private, nonprofit organization that focuses on uniting, advocating and promoting efforts to create a thriving business and residential community in Rockford’s downtown neighborhood east and west of the Rock River.
