Three Rockford businesses are recipients of Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics

ROCKFORD– Three Rockford businesses have been selected as recipients of the 2017 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics by the Rockford Regional Office of the Better Business Bureau. The Torch Award spotlights companies that exemplify ethical business practices. The inaugural Rockford Regional Torch Awards reception will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2018, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.at the Capital House Restaurant, 308 W. State Street, downtown Rockford.

Receiving awards will be: Gem Shop and Diamond Source, LLC, Rockton, Schmeling Construction Company, Rockford and MembersAlliance Credit Union also of Rockford.

“The Torch Award is the premier award the BBB can present to a company,” says Dennis Horton, director of the Rockford Regional Office. “Torch Award winners demonstrate the highest ethical standards of behavior toward customers, suppliers, shareholders, employees, and communities in which they do business.”

Award recipients are selected by an independent panel of judges. Companies are judged on ethical performance in seven general categories, and are compared against similarly sized businesses based on number of employees.
