Attorney John J. Hansen has been appointed as managing attorney of the American Law Firm, P.C., a general practice law firm in Rockford, Illinois. Mr. Hansen has been with the firm for a number of years as a practicing attorney in several areas of law, and he is now stepping up to helm the management of the law firm’s practice and operations.

Stillman Bank is pleased to announce that Nathan T. Bolin, Vice President Commercial Lending, has taken over operations of the bank’s Roscoe office, located at 5250 Bridge Street, after the retirement of long-time officer Dennis Stien. Bolin joined Stillman Bank early last year and has more than 20 years of experience in banking. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Southern Illinois University with a minor in

Economics.

Russ Johansson, President of Specialty Screw announced Jim Gravunder as the recipient of the 2013 President’s Award during their employee recognition luncheon held at the manufacturing plant located on Huffman Blvd. Additionally, the program included service award recognition to Rory Buss, Sam Hille, Clayton Johnson, Dung Nguyen, Pete Seng and John Sharp for ten years. Judy Lyle and Brian Rosandich were honored for 25 years of service and Mickey Oldham for 30 years.

Nancy Salsbury, Eve Whitaker, Maria Salinas, Brandon Latino, Shirley Geiser and Jennifer Halvorsen of Spectrum Insurance Agency Inc, 411 Center St. Durand, Ill. attended the January 28th Pekin Insurance Tri-Annual Agents Meeting at Nunzios Restaurant Loves Park, Ill. Geiser Also received the Silver Key Award from Pekin Life Insurance Company. The award is given to those that meet the requirements of commitment and dedication in the sales of life insurance.

Jennifer Halvorsen of Spectrum Insurance Agency Inc of Durand, attended ‘Homeowners Gaps and Endorsements’ class that was held by Pekin Insurance. This course helps agents to uncover and discuss common misconceptions or gaps in coverage.

Aimee Bermen of Employee Benefits Department at Spectrum Insurance Agency attended several classes including ‘How to Evaluate Networks & Emerging Trends in Health Care Purchasing’, ‘Self Funding 101’, ‘The Essentials of Managing Growing Pharmacy Costs’ and ‘Net Effective Discounts & Health Care Reform: A Dental Perspective’ and received credits towards her Continuing Education requirements.

Brandon Latino of Spectrum Insurance Agency attended the OSHA 30 hour compliance course in Peoria Ill. March 3-7. The Course was on OSHA Safety Initiatives, Enhancing OSHA Compliance, And Protecting Employee Health And Safety. Eve Whitaker of Spectrum Insurance Agency, Inc 5301 E State St Rockford, IL has earned her AINS (Associate in General Insurance) designation. This designation deals with principles of insurance, the provisions of some of the most widely used personal and commercial property and liability contracts as well as life and health policies, and the relationship between insurance theory and practice.

Kristan I. McNames, CFSP, Co-Owner of Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, has recently qualified for recertification of the designation of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP), by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice.

Todd W. Needham, PE, has been named executive partner at RH Batterman & Company Inc. in Beloit.

Needham joins RH Batterman & Co. executive partners President Frank McKearn and Vice President Lance Wagner. He has been employed with RH Batterman & Company since Dec. 17, 2007.

Richard F. Gerdeman III, PE, was recently hired by RH Batterman & Company Inc. as a Project Director. He received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. He has over 19 years of experience in design and construction of retail, commercial, office and industrial land development projects - many of which included public roadway improvements. He is responsible for design, construction guidance and forensics services for various types of retaining walls throughout the United States, including Georgia, Ohio, Iowa and Wisconsin.

Ellyn M. Subak, EIT, has been named Project Engineer at RH Batterman & Company Inc. Subak started working at RH Batterman & Company in August 2013. Subak graduated from UW-Platteville with structural and geotechnical engineering emphases. She has experience on WisDOT transportation projects and has been involved in roadway and utility design projects and site plans.

Ryan D. Rudzinski, EIT PE, Project Engineer, recently passed the Wisconsin Principals and Practices of Engineering examination and received his professional engineering license. Rudzinski has been employed with RH Batterman & Company since June 4, 2007.

Scott Kitzman of Roscoe has joined Marling Lumber as sales manager for the Janesville and Madison lumberyards. Kitzman, a graduate of Columbia College, has nearly 20 years of lumber company experience.

Jeff Vohs recently was elected by the Board of Directors as an officer of Gateway Community Bank with the title of Assistant Vice President.

Vohs joined Gateway Community Bank in November of 2011, having previously served as the general manager of the Beloit Snappers baseball franchise. Gateway Community Bank has offices in Roscoe and Beloit, providing banking services to individuals and businesses.

Jessica Schrader, senior vice president of Gateway Community Bank, recently earned the certification of Professional in Human Resources from the HR Certification Institute.

Don Daniels has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer for SwedishAmerican Health System. Daniels is responsible for directing and overseeing the operations of various corporations within the health system including SwedishAmerican Hospital, SwedishAmerican Medical Group, SwedishAmerican Health Management and SwedishAmerican Regional Services. Previously, Daniels served as vice president of the medical group clinic management. He succeeds Rich Walsh, who has retired from the chief operating officer position which he held since 1994.

Dr. Thomas Schiller, president of SwedishAmerican Medical Group, will assume much of Daniels’ former vice president of medical group clinic management role, but also will continue to oversee SwedishAmerican’s employed physician group. Julia Zimmerman, vice president, SwedishAmerican Medical Group and regional development, has assumed Daniels’ former regional development responsibilities. Sheryl Johnson has been named information officer. She succeeds Phil Wasson, who has been appointed CEO of TriRivers Health Partners, a regional information technology joint venture between SwedishAmerican and FHN in Freeport.

Dr. Michael Born has succeeded Dr. Kathleen Kelly as chief medical officer and chief quality officer. Kelly has been named to the newly created role of chief clinical integration officer.

Kevin Schoeplein, chief executive officer of OSF Healthcare System, has been elected to the Illinois Hospital Association’s Board of Trustees as an at-large trustee.Schoeplein started his three year term on the board on Jan. 1.

Schoeplein has served as CEO for OSF Healthcare System since February of 2011 following his promotion from the Executive Vice Presidents position, which he held for eight years.

Tim Knauf, a financial representative at Williams-Manny Insurance Group in Rockford, has been named to the 2013 Million Dollar Round Table, Court of the Table and Top of the Table - the premier associations of financial professionals.

Rockford Mutual’s Jeannie Hill, Senior Claims Representative and Lisa Postlethwaite, Underwriter I recently earned the Associate in General Insurance (AINS) designation from the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters. To earn this honorable designation, Jeannie and Lisa successfully completed Property and Liability Insurance Principles, Personal Insurance, Commercial Insurance and Ethical Guidelines for Insurance Professionals.

Larissa DuMelle has been promoted to office claims representative with Rockford Mutual Insurance Company. Larissa joined Rockford Mutual in 2012 as a data entry specialist. She then moved into claims customer service and from there was promoted to auto estimating analyst.Rockford Mutual provides property and casualty coverage in the states of Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana with a reputation and financial stability obtained by over 115 years of business.

Gerald Long has been promoted to Director of Claims with Rockford Mutual Insurance Company. Gerald joined Rockford Mutual in June 2011 as a marketing representative and in 2012, he moved into Claims as a claims manager. Gerald brought with him over 30 years of industry experience.
