RH Batterman & Company Inc. in Beloit is pleased to announce the following additions to and achievements of its staff:
Richard F. Gerdeman III, PE, was recently hired as a Project Director. He received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. He has over 19 years of experience in design and construction of retail, commercial, office and industrial land development projects — many of which included public roadway improvements. He is responsible for design, construction guidance and forensics services for various types of retaining walls throughout the United States, including Georgia, Ohio, Iowa and Wisconsin.
Ellyn M. Subak, EIT, has been named Project Engineer. Subak started working at RH Batterman & Company in August 2013. Subak graduated from UW-Platteville with structural and geotechnical engineering emphases. She has experience on WisDOT transportation projects and has been involved in roadway and utility design projects and site plans.
Ryan D. Rudzinski, EIT PE, Project Engineer, recently passed the Wisconsin Principals and Practices of Engineering examination and received his professional engineering license. Rudzinski has been employed with RH Batterman & Company since June 4, 2007.
Attorney John J. Hansen has been appointed as managing attorney of the American Law Firm, P.C., a general practice law firm in Rockford, Ill.
Hansen has been with the firm for a number of years as a practicing attorney in several areas of law, and he is now stepping up to helm the management of the law firm’s practice and operations.
Hansen will be continuing as one of the hosts of the Legal Matters TV program. He will also be overseeing the new free legal seminar program offered to the public, where trained attorneys conduct monthly seminars at the law firm offices focusing on various areas of law.
Scott Kitzman of Roscoe has joined Marling Lumber as sales manager for the Janesville and Madison lumberyards.
Kitzman, a graduate of Columbia College, has nearly 20 years of lumber company experience.
Marling Lumber/Marling HomeWorks is a privately held company that has operated in Wisconsin for more than 110 years. It operates lumberyards at 634 S. River St., and 1138 Highway 14 in Janesville, and at 2024 S. Stoughton Road, Madison, as well as a cabinet showroom in Waukesha.
Jeff Vohs recently was elected by the Board of Directors as an officer of Gateway Community Bank with the title of Assistant Vice President.
Vohs joined Gateway Community Bank in November of 2011, having previously served as the general manager of the Beloit Snappers baseball franchise.
Gateway Community Bank has offices in Roscoe and Beloi.
Jessica Schrader, senior vice president of Gateway Community Bank, recently earned the certification of Professional in Human Resources from the HR Certification Institute.
Schrader passed the certification exam in December.

Don Daniels has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer for SwedishAmerican Health System.
Daniels is responsible for directing and overseeing the operations of various corporations within the health system including SwedishAmerican Hospital, SwedishAmerican Medical Group, SwedishAmerican Health Management and SwedishAmerican Regional Services. Previously, Daniels served as vice president of the medical group clinic management. He succeeds Rich Walsh, who has retired from the chief operating officer position which he held since 1994.
Dr. Thomas Schiller, president of SwedishAmerican Medical Group, will assume much of Daniels’ former vice president of medical group clinic management role, but also will continue to oversee SwedishAmerican’s employed physician group. Julia Zimmerman, vice president, SwedishAmerican Medical Group and regional development, has assumed Daniels’ former regional development responsibilities.
Sheryl Johnson has been named information officer. She succeeds Phil Wasson, who has been appointed CEO of TriRivers Health Partners, a regional information technology joint venture between SwedishAmerican and FHN in Freeport.
Dr. Michael Born has succeeded Dr. Kathleen Kelly as chief medical officer and chief quality officer. Kelly has been named to the newly created role of chief clinical integration officer.
SwedishAmerican Health System is a not-for-profit health system based in Rockford, Ill., comprised of two hospital, an outpatient cancer center, 30 clinics, a home health care agency and a foundation.
Kevin Schoeplein, chief executive officer of OSF Healthcare System, has been elected to the Illinois Hospital Association’s Board of Trustees as an at-large trustee.
Schoeplein started his three year term on the board on Jan. 1.
Schoeplein has served as CEO for OSF Healthcare System since February of 2011 following his promotion from the Executive Vice Presidents position. He began his career with the Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis as an assistant administrator at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in 1978. In 1983, he was appointed Administrator/CEO at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. In 1988, he served as president of OSF Saint Francis Inc. From 1996 to 1999 he served as CEO of the Northern Illinois/Michigan Region and in 1999 he led OSF HealthPlans as its president until it was sold to Humana.
OSF (Order of Saint Francies) Health is based in Peoria, Ill. It is an integrated health systemwhich operates several health facilities including OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center.
