Mid-States Concrete seeks rezoning

SOUTH BELOIT — Mid-States Concrete Industries at 500 S. Park Ave. has applied to Winnebago County for a zoning change and a variance for an addition on its property.

Mid-States Chair and CEO Charles Harker said the company has requested a zoning change from Industrial General to Heavy Industrial. He said the company has been zoned Industrial General for 70 years but it recently was advised it should be zoned for Heavy Industrial. The company is located in Roscoe Township and is not in the South Beloit City Limits, so it has presented its zoning request to the county.

Harker said the zoning request is to go before the county on Dec. 13.

The South Beloit City Council had an item on its agenda Monday to adopt a resolution objecting to the zoning application. However, Mayor Ted Rehl asked that the item be removed from the agenda.
