BELOIT — Community stakeholders gathered for a celebration commemorating the newly remodeled McDonald’s on State Street in Beloit on Tuesday.
Franchise owner Guy Bucciferro III and his family welcomed community members to the private VIP party and ribbon cutting at the restaurant at 45 State St., offering them the chance to test out the new state-of-the-art equipment that includes new self-ordering kiosks (there’s also a traditional counter as well).
“It’s an experience of the future,” Bucciferro said.
Bucciferro called the remodel refreshing, saying the building looks brand new.
Construction began on Feb. 12, and the McDonald’s now features a new exterior facade and remodeled lobby.
The restaurant looks similar to Bucciferro’s new McDonald’s in Rockton, which opened in December 2017 on Rockton Road. Other new features include new seating, tiled walls, different types of settings (from small tables to large communal tables), a new digital menu board for the drive-through and upgraded lighting and restrooms.
He urges customers who are unsure about the changes at first to give them a try.
“Once we get people to use it, it’s intuitive enough to make ordering easier,” Bucciferro said.
The renovations also brought mobile ordering via the McDonald’s smart phone application and curbside-to-table service.
Cheri Rennells, customer service manager for Golden State Foods, enjoys the new changes.
“(The kiosks) are great when you need something quick, and it’s nice to have the counter when you’re ordering something more intricate,” Rennells said.
Most of the renovations were completed near the end of April. All that’s left now is redoing the parking lot once the weather cooperates and finishing landscaping.
In addition to the VIP Party, on May 22 the first 100 customers will receive free fries for a year as a way to celebrate the grand re-opening.
Bucciferro owns 12 McDonald’s restaurants stretching from Byron, Illinois, to the west side of Janesville.
His three Beloit locations including the restaurant on Madison Road, State Street and Milwaukee Road. He also has a location in South Beloit off Interstate 39/90, and of course the Rockton location near Walmart.
This year, Bucciferro said crews will be adding kiosks to his Byron location, and in 2019 McDonald’s stores in the Rockford market as well as the store on Madison Road in Beloit will be upgraded.
In 2020, he plans to renovate the lobby in the two stores: the Milwaukee Road store in Beloit and the store off Interstate 39/90 in South Beloit.
