KMK Media completes recruitment video for Rock Valley College
KMK Media Group, a marketing communications firm, completed production of a recruitment video showcasing student life, extracurricular activities and the fun, social opportunities available at Rock Valley College.
The grant-funded project will be shown to prospective students and their families during visits and online.
KMK Media Group also designed a McDonald’s food tray liner for the Golden Apple Foundation highlighting the 2017 Golden Apple winners and encouraging nominations for the 2018 teacher excellence awards.
KMK Media Group completed an updated website for Civil Engineering Services, a Belvidere-based firm providing civil engineering and surveying services in Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa; KMK Media Group completed a promotional video for local manufacturer, Ipsen, to use at an upcoming industry trade show.
KMK Media Group was hired by the Temple Independent School District in Temple, Texas, to provide ongoing marketing consulting and support.

US awards $1.75M to fund access to substance abuse services
The US Department of Health & Human Services announced awarding of $1,757,000 in funding to ten clients of the Frana Group. The $1,757,000 in funding awards will help increase access to Substance Abuse and Mental Health services to meet the opioid epidemic in Illinois, Michigan, Kansas, California, Iowa, Alaska and Indiana.
The purpose of this grant program is to support existing Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) clinics to fight the opioid epidemic by improving access to treatment and recovery services; targeting use of overdose-reversing drugs; and advancing better practices for pain
management.
OSF Innovation featured on list of 58 Hospitals with Innovation Programs
Becker’s Hospital Review, the leading magazine for hospital news and analysis, recently announced that OSF Innovation is on the 2017 list of 58 Hospitals and Health Systems with Innovation Programs. Launched in 2016, OSF Innovation is a multidisciplinary center and program focused on internal and external innovation to re-invent the health care delivery system of the future. According to Becker’s, the hospitals and health systems featured have committed to innovation with dedicated centers and departments. Research and development from these programs range from technical —including medical devices, diagnostics and mobile health platforms— to clinical workflows, payment models and process improvements. Some have also established commercial arms and technology transfer offices addressing some of the most complex challenges facing patient care and delivery.
Superior Joining Technologies receives accreditation for welding
Superior Joining Technologies, Inc., in Machesney Park, Illinois, has received Nadcap accreditation for Fusion and Laser Welding.
It is the only facility in the Rockford area with the Nadcap welding accreditation and one of 16 Nadcap-accredited welding suppliers in Illinois.
Superior Joining is accredited to perform a wide variety of welding for Fortune 500 aerospace leaders, such as GE Aviation and The Boeing Company. The company has been Nadcap certified for Non-Destructive Testing for seven years.
S. Beloit’s Mid-States Concrete plant awarded with SHARP designation
Mid-States Concrete Industries’ plant, located in South Beloit, Illinois, has been formally awarded SHARP designation by the United States Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program is awarded to only the safest companies in our nation.
The program recognizes small business employers who have used OSHA’s On-site Consultation Program services and operate an exemplary injury and illness prevention
program.
Acceptance into SHARP is an achievement of status that singles Mid-States out as a model for worksite safety and health.
Principal at V2 Marketing attends annual INBOUND 2017 conference
Chris Kelley, Principal at V2 Marketing Communications recently attended INBOUND 2017, in Boston, Mass. The annual conference, hosted by HubSpot, attracted more than 21,000 marketing and sales professionals from around the world and in nearly every industry, for inspiration, education and connections to transform business.
Speakers included former First Lady, Michelle Obama, author Brene Brown, and WWE wrestler John Cena. In addition, V2 Marketing Communications recently promoted and facilitated a two-day fall workshop and college fair for the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters. The fall dance workshops were held at the Hyatt Regency Schaumburg, in Schaumburg, Illinois, with over 450 attendees.
The event featured classes for both dance students and teachers and showcased the talents and expertise of ten nationally renowned dance
educators.

Thayer Lighting, Inc, a business specializing in Lighting Products and Services, is pleased to announce certification under the Business and Enterprise Program (BEP) for Minorities, Females and Persons with Disabilities through the Illinois department of Central Management Services.
Business and Enterprise Program (BEP) Certification involves an in-depth process to determine if the applicant business is at least 51 percent owned and controlled by one or more women who are U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents.
Depending on the nature of the business, the woman business owner will have to demonstrate the expertise, skills and experience necessary to be in actual control of the business. Business and Enterprise Program certification for Thayer Lighting is in effect through Aug. 17, 2018. Thayer Lighting, Inc. also recently received a System of Award Management (SAM) vendor designation through the US Federal Contractor registration. System Award Management (SAM) incorporates all government contractor information into one system for small businesses.
Contractors and vendors can register, file representations and certifications, and search for contracting opportunities from one location. System of Award Management-verified vendor designation is required to work with all federal agencies including FEMA.
Clodius & Co Jewelers in Rockford awarded Master IJO Jeweler title
Clodius & Co Jewelers, located in Rockford and owned by Mark & Monika Clodius, was recently awarded the prestigious title of Master IJO Jeweler Certified Gem Lab by the Independent Jewelers Organization (IJO).
“The requirements for a Certified Gem Lab are the most stringent. Our guidelines for our program encompass not only the study of gemology with the Gemological Institute of America, but also the ability to utilize specific recommended gemological equipment in-house.
We want our members to be the best and most proficient retail jewelers in the industry,” said IJO President Jeffrey Roberts.
Blackhawk Bank honored with Dorothy Height racial justice award
Blackhawk Bank was recently honored as the recipient of a Dorothy Height Award at the Racial Justice Conference held in Janesville. The conference is hosted by the YWCA of Rock County and the award recognizes a business within Rock County that has demonstrated recognition of the strengths provided by racial diversity and its inclusion in the workplace.
Blackhawk Bank President and COO Dave Adkins was humbled to accept this award as a representative of the entire Blackhawk Bank team.

Beloit-based business Comply365 recently celebrated 10 years of innovation in the aviation industry with its powerful mobile platform and flexible apps that deliver the content users need in demanding, mission-critical daily operations. The industry-leading software company celebrated with an open house at its headquarters, 655 Third St., Suite 365, Beloit.
Regional business leaders, area pilots, flight attendants and airline employees and members of the media learned about how Kerry and Dude Frank started the company in the basement of their home 10 years ago and developed mobile solutions now in use by about 75 percent of the North American aviation market, as well as a growing list of international airlines.
